Welcome to all the many new and returning friends. Glad you have come for a visit.

  Yesterday I went to Healdsburg, California. Healdsburg has a traditional downtown square edged by stores and businesses. In the middle of wine country it has evolved into a very trendy place. Wonderful shops, bookstores and cafes. The little fabric store is stocked with exquisite fabric some rarely seen in chain stores. The Swiss eyelet trim was so fine it looked handmade. I spent at least an hour if not more slowly looking at every bolt.

These are photos from the web as I did not have a camera with me. Next time I will  take pictures inside some shops that you would just love.

 I really needed to get out of the house and visit with a dear friend.

A while ago I posted an antique marriage certificate. I have since learned how to straighten, crop and paint an image. So here it is again. It is so beautiful!

Victorian era lady of luxury. What an incredible dress. How did the artist recreate that silk?

Cute little fairies or elf's delivering mail. It is always nice to go to the mail box and find a beautiful card or cheery note from a friend. From a very old book.

 I think this is a Santa on a horse. It is from inside a vintage 1920's greeting card.

The following images are taken from a 1907 edition of Theodore Storm's book " Immensee" The book has an Art Nouveau  and Arts & Crafts era  look.  There are many more woodblock images from each chapter plus 9 illustrations similar to the oval one. They will be posted in the future.

It has been a while since I visited all the great blogs that I follow. This morning was the perfect time to go poking around. Many many lovely blogs and people. So fun how one refers you to another. Be sure and check out the blogs I watch and follow.
While visiting other blogs I realized mine needs to be decorated! I have to admit that because of my blog skills (or lack there of) I could make a mess of it. Now after some reflection it is obvious that I have a design and style commitment problem.. Yikes!! But it is so true. Can't decide on what color to paint the bathroom or my bedroom etc..  I  stumbled upon http://littleemmaenglishhome.blogspot.com/  with so many beautiful rooms featured. All the owners have totally embraced a look.  I have a vision of what my header could be and my buttons could be buttons. Well in time bumble button will be all put together.
     I think December is going to go by fast. I love the lights and decorations of Christmas. Luckily eggnog is only available during the holidays. It is so easy to sip away regardless of fat content and calories. Santa, I need an exercise bike!    Enough babbling on about me, you need pictures to create and make things with. Today the pictures are a very mixed bag. A little something for everyone.The first few are from a child's music book titled "The Music Hour". Very cute. At some point it would be fun to change the colors.

Two formal 1700's portraits. Love the period clothing. When I was making doll houses I collected pictures for decorating and these were probably from an Art and Antiques magazine.

   Welcome to everyone. The sky is gray and cloudy and it is cold out there. Now my bed on the other hand is white, warm and very comfortable. Guess where I'd rather be!  I just love my flannel sheets, fluffy and warm down comforter and my favorite pillow. All in white, a blank canvas for dreams day or night.

Santa, a Christmas Tree, Vintage Snowmen,Victorian woman and girl Free for inspired crafters and artists

     Oh happy day. I spent most of the day scanning images for you all. I am still learning how to work with Picasa. Cleaning up the pictures and photographs takes time but is fun to do.

    Normally this is the time of year that I sell on eBay (under id lillyvalleyblue). If I stop sorting buttons and searching for images maybe I will start some auctions. I will let you know if I do. My auctions always start and end on Sundays. There will be lots of vintage jewelry, some ephemera,  American Girl doll stuff and other assorted vintage items.

    Today's post is full of Christmas cheer and two antique photographs.

 The following black and white drawings are from inside really old greeting cards. Look for more of  them in coming posts. I just have to find them! I am really looking forward to Valentines day as most are sweet little valentines. It will be so much fun to list several a day in February.

  

Thought this is perfect for all those who love snowmen.Great bright colors. This is from an early Christmas card.

So beautiful,another pretty cabinet photograph that I do not know the identity of the person. I am guessing this was taken around 1880-90's. I haven't seen one with a similar pose before.

This little girl does not look to happy. Classic mid 1800's civil war period clothing. Plaid was all the rage thanks to Queen Victoria.

In case you haven't noticed (of course you have!) grammar, punctuation and yes spelling, even with spell check, is a free for all. Sometimes when I post in the middle of the night things get really sloppy. If I have taken night time meds. and stayed up anyway,who knows what will appear. At one time spelling was easy and grammar was second nature. It has been a long time since I have written  and used these skills much so I'm very rusty. I sorta think the great speller is just gone! Things would be atrocious with out spell check. So.. this my official disclaimer,  notice and apology.  Well I feel better!

This lovely lady is from a Goody's lady book which was published in 1851. I have two of these books and they have hundreds of truly Victorian images.

This is a favorite picture. I have had it for many years but do not know the artist.

And finally an interesting frame. From the back of a cabinet photograph notice the camera on top.
